GerryOp...the fact that UT finished in the bottom 3 of the APR rankings does not speak to the quality of the institution. It may be an indictment of the basketball program under Buzz Peterson or of our pitiful baseball program with it's numerous problems, however it does not reflect on the quality of an education from UT. If academics are truly a priority for Mr. Jackson, then we should all hope that he takes full advantage of the opportunities presented at UT, and sets an example for those around him. We certainly know that the Vols can always use leadership in that area.
BTW...I commented on your post because the last thing that we need on a recruiting message board is a UT fan/grad insinuating that if an athlete values his education, he should not choose UT.....
"Guess it depends on what is most important to young Mr. Jackson."

GerryOp....if you have so little respect for degrees from THE UNIVERSITY of Tennessee, then could you please let us know why you are a fan? If you are partial to Vandy, then you can go hang out with the other liberal arts grads and sip the champagne that you bought with your parents' money. UT students seek degrees from nationally ranked programs that are of ACTUAL USE to their professional lives.

I would like to say that Raleigh should be able to recruit based on the fact that the Vols are THE University of Tennessee. However, right now in-state talents, especially in mid and west TN, consider UT to be an inferior program. Most of the top-level recruits from the mid-state are committed to either Vandy or Lipscomb. If Raleigh hopes to build a fence, he's going to have to start logging the miles and making his way around the state to try to change some people's minds....but winning some in-state games definitely wouldn't hurt either.

eb502us....you do know this is a COLLEGE football team right? I don't think that you could even field a full football roster of college students that do not drink (at least on occasion). These are 18-22 year old kids in a college town...certain mistakes, such as underage citations and public intox's, will happen.
Of course that being said, our Punter no longer falls within the excused age range and is a complete moron...no idea what CPF's reasoning was there.
