It would seem to me that it would be a lot harder to beat a team throwing it deep on press coverage when you are a third string quarterback who has little to no confidence left after throwing four interceptions in the first half. We had a rattled quarterback and we switched our defensive mentality and we let him off the hook.
A coach once said that a team was "who we thought they were! AND WE LET 'EM OFF THE HOOK!! Now if you want to crown them, then crown their @$$!" Well if we keep playing like that on defense then I think I'm going to start measuring Tim Tebow and Matthew Stafford for a crown...

Hey can UT students get refunds for the student tickets they had to buy this year...wait can all the other season ticket holders get their money back? I can't wait to watch us get dominated by Florida when we switch to the 10 yard cushion defense...they won't see that coming.

murrayvol - don't worry we will work like heck to get better.
In all actuality, it's become John Chavis defensive philosophy in the second half of a game that we are leading. He believes that by playing his corners off the ball he can "keep everything in front of them" and not give up the big play. So he usually has 4 D-lineman, he rushes three of them, drops the fourth into coverage and has his secondary play beyond the first-down line.
The reason why it is flowed logic is because UCLA had really only thrown more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage four times during the game and those went to Willingham, Morley, Berry and McKenzie (all four Vols). Therefore our secondary was playing really good against the deep ball and we should have just stayed with the same game plan.
INSTEAD Chavis goes back to playing not to lose instead of playing to win. And we lost...this is why at the end of the year we probably will be hiring some new defensive coaches...
Right now Tennessee has bypassed Michigan and Virginia Tech as the laughingstock of the nation so far this year. At least ECU and Utah were actually supposed to be good.

I liked Gerald Jones returning kicks...but if anyone can remember that 4th quarter against Vandy last year Rogan saved Tennessee's and Fulmer's butt. Hopefully he gets healthy this week and we can have both Gerald Jones and Dennis Rogan back on kickoffs. For the person who said Jones looked better, he also got a whole lot better blocking than Rogan did. Rogan probably should have just called a lot of fair catches. When Jones goes back to return a kick we actually call a good blocking play on special teams.

How did we still get 30 votes? Look at that team that lost to UCLA (who by the way probably won't even make a bowl game) and tell me they are the 32nd best team? Not when our defensive coordinator decides to take a nap in the second half instead of making some adjustments. THEY KEEP RUNNING THE SAME THREE PLAYS CHAVIS!! How about moving your corners up and letting them make plays instead of playing scared. This is obviously John Adams' fault.

Chavis will watch this tonight and say...I think our corners were still a little close to the line. The worst part about this is that the coaching staff and players all are talking about Foster's fumble. They all act like he lost it for them. It's all Chavis' fault, he's the one who told our defense to go out and rush 3 down lineman, drop the 4th into coverage and give all the recievers at least 10 yards of cushion. If we play like we did in the 2nd half in 3 weeks we may win Tebow a second Heisman in just one game. It will be another great year on the hill. How long before all the callers and comments start calling for Fulmer job...again?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves with wanting a basketball player to play football...remember Stanley Asumnu.
Plus he may think that he is playing the other type of football out there.

I wonder why they didn't include the obvious battle for a starting spot at linebacker with Nevin McKenzie/Adam Myers-White..still no sure fire starter there.
Also what kind of question is that to ask? 'DO you hope they learn from their mistakes?' No I hope they get worse...

Why is this a story in a newspaper? Congrats newlyweds, but it must be a slow news day.

Tim Tebow likes soft coverage about as much as Phillip Fulmer likes doughnuts...
