Because I am unaware of how baseball drafts work, could it be the case that Kelly signs with UT - plays football and baseball for a year - and then is drafted in the first round of the MLB draft next year?

fchildress,
good point about the three spot... childress should be at the 4 since he plays with his back to the hoop. hopefully he will only get minutes when tyler smith is getting a breather. i'm confident in the combo of tatum/woolridge at the three along with prince.
i also agree with your four locks for the starting lineup. the fifth player will depend on how Coach wants to play - if he wants tempo, look for Prince to start (he gets up ahead for fast breaks and presses well with his long arms). if he wants size, look for chism to play the 4, tyler to play the 3, and big briam williams to play the true center. if jurick develops as fast as williams, this option becomes even more prominent.
march_ash,
i agree - there is so much talent that we've forgotten to give props to guys like tatum, woolridge, and jurick. as a vols fan, i'm not used to being so overwhelmed with talent. but with more and more players saying things like this - {“There’s no need for me to go visit Kentucky,”[Maze] said. “There’s not a better situation than this.”} - i guess i better get used to it!

Lots of newcomers, but they're super talented... Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism are really important to the leadership and success of this team...
Maze/West
Hopson/Tabb
Prince/Tatum/Childress
Smith/Woolridge
Chism/Williams/Jurick
Even with the latest addition of Maze, we are thin at the guard spot. This isn't surprising after losing four of em: Lofton, J. Smith, Howell, and R. Smith. But as we know, Prince could get some time at the point guard spot if Maze/West get into trouble. Look for Josh Tabb to get significant minutes - not only will he need to sub in for Hopson, but his defensive skills will be key since he is the only one of the four guards to have any experience guarding SEC players.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a breakout year from Cameron Tatum. He looked really good in the few games we saw him in last year. If we're lucky, he and Woolridge will be here for three years each.
I am no basketball coach, so I realize that my lineup may not look like Coach Bruce Pearl's... Either way, it's more interesting to discuss/debate this than it is to get in a pissing match with a Memphis fan...

If Gary Williams wanted him to play for Maryland, I have a slightly better gut feel that Maze wouldn't be the lockeroom sour grape that everyone else thinks he'll be...

Time for West to step up at the point. Please Lord God above don't let J.P. Prince be our point guard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have plenty of big men to substitute for Duke. It was evident from the start that Chism was a better player (although less of a recruit) than Crews. I'll take a four-star with great work ethic over a five-star druggy anyday.
On Crews and Ramar Smith dismissed; violation of substance abuse policy and academics were factors

if a plus-one system will make it become a two-semester sport, just play the 1vs4 and 2vs3 games in the middle of December - i'm bored out of my mind anyways from the second the SEC championship is over up until the bcs bowl games.

Possible starting lineup (certainly not necessarily what it will be in November):
R. Smith (D. West)
S. Hopson (C. Tatum)
JP Prince (R. Woolridge)
T. Smith (D. Crews)
W. Chism (B. Williams)
Or coach Pearl could go big:
R. Smith (D. West)
S. Hopson (C. Tatum)
T. Smith (JP Prince)
W. Chism (D. Crews)
B. Williams (P. Jurick)
There are so many good players on this team. The fact that we got Woolridge, Jurick, West, Hopson, AND now Tatum off his redshirt year, this class is loaded.

Does anyone else think ESPN gave the special tour to the recruit to give themselves something to talk about? Couldn't hurt the network to get a bit more drama out there, right? Heck, all of ESPN picked everyone but the Lady Vols to win the championship - now all the ESPN analysts are probably thinking "lets see, we gave Geno's recruit an illegal tour, we made more drama than is necessary over why Tennessee and UConn don't play their famous home and away series this year, and we all picked UConn to win the championship... but it turns out that we were probably wrong to give that girl the tour, Geno has resorted to whining about the situation of not playing the Lady Vols, and Tennessee won their 8th championship of the year - maybe we should stop being bias towards the new england teams (Red Sox, UConn, etc.)"

Welcome, Mr. Hopson, to Big Orange Country!
Now stay Tyler, stay!
