In the early 1960s, Jerry Lucas promoted a book that he co-authored with Harry Larayne, The Memory Book, that helped me get through high school and college. I wonder if Jerry might be available to teach some of these techniques to our hoopsters and footballers? Good to see that Coach Bruce Pearl recognizes greatness when he sees it! I hope the younger generation did, too! Go Vols! SAVol

Sale Creek is in North Hamilton County. I actually treated a woman last night with a pink T-shirt that said 'Suck Creek.' TJ, you from Sale Creek? I tell incredulous people that I'm from Suck Creek, Tennessee, sometimes, just to get their reaction! IVK, I think that continuity in play calling should prevail, as somebody in the game most of the time, and a 'leader,' should be in charge of the organizational part, because his 'head is in the game.' But, I can accept the explanation that former safeties are trained to spot the keys, too. Go Vols! SAVol

An editorial in the Wall Street Journal on Aug 15 opined that only 30% of college graduates actually need degrees. But the people who control opinions have "sold the dream" of a college education to virtually everyone, even those who are not prepared by their secondary school education to pursue it. Basically, football gives us a great rallying point, and I second vtvol's comments about Gerald Williams. I want him to succeed beyond his wildest expectations, both off and on the field. Whether he gets onto the field or not, he's a Volunteer football hero for his determination and commitment to be a Vol! Hope you get the academic issues resolved, Gerald! Go Vols! SAVol

Nevin McKenzie, from San Antonio Jay High School (usually one of the weaker schools in a powerful district), will play more snaps than Adam M-W, IMO. It's a shame that a part-time player will be depended upon to get the defense into the proper formation. Looks like Chief is the one not thinking, here. Why not have the MLB, or one of the 'leaders' of our defense, have that responsibility? Go Vols! SAVol

We owe our National Championship in 1998 to Clint Stoerner, 'Rooster' Outzen, and a whole team full of fine football players, led by Al Wilson, Tee Martin, etc.! Wonder if JA has done research on Outzen, Ten Years Later!?! Maybe we're due again!?! Go Vols! SAVol
