OMG......."...we can't catch a break." ????? Now, right there is a big part of the problem......if you are waiting for breaks to come your way, you already lost. The good teams go about making their own breaks. There is a negative mindset that has been a part of Tennessee baseball for a few years now. You hear it in the interviews and see it on the field. This did not come with the coaching change, its been here. It's one reason a coaching change was made. BUT, Raleigh is now the one who must get it changed and it sure didn't improve this year. Based on his past record, we would think he is capable of turning this around, but by the end of next season we need to see some positive movement......not a championship, just development! That would be refreshing. I think we could use a little more talent, yes. But with whatever talent we get, we need a whole new attitude and approach. This program has almost nowhere else to go but UP.

"He did it with another coach's recruits." Ordinarily that is not a good thing. In this case, however, it speaks volumes because the "previous" coach was not nearly a recruiter of Pearl's ability. How was Tennessee basketball doing with those same recruits under the last coach? How well did Pearl do? The good news is that, in all of this, once BP gets his own home-grown recruits in place (and that is happening very fast), the SEC is in for a shock as to just how good Tennessee can really be. Is this not exciting or what!! Go Vols!

czxqa, it just so happens I also went to Rutgers some years ago. It was OK. Their program had a good year two years ago. And Schiano has done a miracle job resurecting that shipwreck called Rutgers football. So fine, your proud of your school...good for you. You got a rated quarterback that might well help. Be happy. But those of us posting here and those who went to Tennessee are proud of our school too. Frankly, you did not distinguish yourself as a "class person" with your post either, so don't throw too many insults our way. And whether or not you "support Tennessee" in your conversations down at Georgia or NJ, or wherever, noone down here will lose a lot of sleep over it. Enjoy your season. Congratulations on a good recruit.

Living in NJ and knowing this area, it never ceases to amaze me that ANYONE could choose Rutgers over the likes of a Tennessee, Georgia, Miami, etc. If you ever saw the difference between crowd support, facilities, and location, you would be astounded. That said, 109 of 426 and 20 TD's over a three year career? Regardless of the somewhat suspect national rankings, those statistics will have none of these schools crying. Rutgers is welcome to him, we need better than that. Why use up a scholarship on "maybe." Looking forward to Football Time in Tennessee!

Candace,
This award is deserved on so many fronts. And everyone would agree that you are the most fantastic ambassador for both UT and women's basketball. Congratulations. And I agree with HC above, do your best to stay above the mudhole called politics.....just continue to do what you have always done......model and preach great character, ethics, and values. You are the kind of person that makes us all proud to be Volunteers! Best of luck in your future.

CONGRATULATIONS LADY VOLS.......AGAIN!! And congratulations to Coach Summit! Her tournament record is beyond astounding. And something else I noticed about our Tennessee women......during the playing of our national anthem, every single one of them, led by their coach, stood with their hands on their heart. That's the way to show this country what a great school and state Tennessee is!!! God bless em' all!

Candace is one of the all-time great atheletes in Tennessee history....not just basketball, all sports! Beyond her unique greatness as a Lady Vol, she is a woman of great character, strength, and class. She embodies everthing good about Tennessee. I am so happy for her and the University. She has one last game in Orange......GO CANDACE, GO VOLS!

This is why there is a spring practice. Find out about each player, learn your systems and schemes, and sharpen your skills. The coaches will have to obviously gear up the offense, but those always come last. There are some bright lights, but Crompton definitely needs to assess why he is throwing so many int's. Yes, the secondary is one of our strong points. But in the SEC, they ALL have good players in the secondary.
On Offense struggles again; Fulmer calls it 'royal butt-kicking'

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRUCE PEARL AND THE ENTIRE VOL TEAM!! Coach Pearl certainly deserves to be mentioned in the company of all the great coaches this year. I am somewhat surprised the Davidson Coach did not place a little higher. That team was a super team to watch play. Except for the Vols, they were my favorite team in the tournament.

Well, its official. This baseball team has accomplished something I really did not think possible here at Tennessee.....they just quit. That is the only explanation. As for the tournament, they really have not played their way into deserving a spot. This club needs an attitude and commitment overhaul. We will see what Raleigh can do between now and next season....it's far too early to tell about him. But no one is happy about this season and, on that point, I doubt that anyone can much disagree.
On Vols' home finale no fun, 20-5
