John, good article and very true, I have said the same thing myself over the years. Now, you have to be a good team to be in the right position to take advantage of those lucky breaks, and to make some thing of them, but there is a certain combination of luck and skill that seems to always play into the picture.

yabadabadoo1026 - that conclusion wasn't completely a result of the game last night, it also had to do with the fact I live in North Augusta, SC (surrounded by Clemson fans - not to mention uga and usc fans) and had many Clemson fans come up wishing Tennessee would take their OC saying that we could have him....this just helped back up their worries.

Clemson once again highly overrated...
Anyone else here thank the Good Lord that Fulmer hired Dave Clawson rather than higher the Clemson OC that he interviewed while watching that game???

Man, we need some football to be played already, these comments are becoming like broken records and not to mention half of them come from somewhere out in left field....everyone is an expert I suppose.

WorkinLikeHeck - man, it's a new day, move on and stop living in the past, I am sure you would be able to enjoy the whole football experience a little bit more. You're right about the 'trick plays' of the past, they were so seldom used it was very obvious when they were being used and they were pretty one-dimensional at that, but we have some new blood running the show on offense and I think we should all be pretty pumped about it.

Colliervol - good point, kind of the same thing with Auburns JC transfer battling for starting QB. Not to say they aren't solid or can't be solid, but you sure can't just say 'hey, he did good in JC, so he will tear everyone up in div-1 as well!'
Kind of like saying 'hey team A beat team B and team C beat team A so Team C is obviously the best and would beat team B'........college football is so unpredictable, that is part of what makes it so great! These preseason polls will most likely look nothing like they do now at seasons end!

DCflorida, don't forget how 'good' the FSU offense has been recently...those stellar QBs of theirs and all. He was one of the few bright spots on their offense when he was there, so I don't think pulling up FSU offensive stats are worth a single cent.
Plus, he has already said how much more there is to our offense compared to FSU, said how they didn't audible, etc.....whole new ballgame now.
