UTCHRIS I agree with you on the Brown situation. UT's tradition in Football is the selling point along with Pearl's program for him. Still he is being heavily recruited by a few schools out west (USC & UCLA). I still believe the selling point to some of these kids when it comes to choosing between UT or Memphis is their High school coach. Your reason is a valid one also. It would be interesting if the Memphis area High school coaches were polled to provide anonymous opinion on what they see in the two schools programs we might be suprised. For Pearl he has to continue to get the inside track with the area coaches in Memphis. For Calipari he doesn't really care like he once did because he has shown he can recruit nationally, which is something other Memphis coaches (Finch,Price,Kirk) could not do. They were highly dependent on Memphis area and surrounding counties and bordering States recruits.

On White Station's Hall visits Kentucky, still considering UT, Memphis

The bottom line is that UT has continued to recruit the Memphis area heavily and losing Elliot Williams and Leslie McDonald has not bode well for Pearl, but then on the flip side Calipari has these kids in his backyard and they don't even consider Memphis either. I believe the High school Coaches in the Memphis area have had a major influence in this area also. From what many of my sources tell me Buckner was actually better than McDonald. I thought UT was recruiting him, but by the article above perhaps that is not true. Now if Ferrakon Hall decides to attend out of State one has to wonder why more Memphis kids not only don't want play at Memphis, but they aren't interested in playing for UT. Stay tune as there is more talent coming out of Memphis and the huge question will be will any of them stay and play within the State.

Oh yeah fried Bologna notched on the sides and in the middle w/mayo on wheat. That being the case you better have 40mg of lipitor, 200 mcg of folic acid, 81mg aspirin, and some Omega 3 daily if this is going to be your weekly diet, lol.

pdhuff - they actually do have BBQ bologna in a few of the joints in the Bluff City.
Overated - Memphis in Mayo has a nice ring to it. Good to see the Grizz finally do something after giving Gasoft to LA.
itsme... actually the Tigers are second as the JayHawks won it in OT. I like the Tigers but they are going into next season with a lot of shoes to fill. If Dozier and Taggart up their game and they can get solid performance at the point then they may be legit. Point guard play is what is at question for them. As for the Vols on paper they look to be loaded. Tyler may be SEC player of the year and if Maze can show better point play than what they had last season they should be legit. The perimeter game will lack some, but they should be more physical this season with the number of bigs inside. Louisville exposed a weakness that Pearl is aware of.

Based on performance and performance alone it's Candace Parker hands down. Lofton's ordeal with cancer is a remarkable story in itself, but it doesn't answer to the question being asked.
