I wish I could find the picture that was on here a few years ago. It shows a female fan in the stands, holding up a poster that says --
"That's right! It's Rocky Top AGAIN!!"
I just keep wanting to say that, over and over, to everyone who doubted (including me) --
"That's right! It's Rocky Top AGAIN!!"
One of the best-played games I've ever seen the LV play. As one commenter said earlier -- an excellent game plan, excellently executed.
And that's why we can all say --
"That's right! It's Rocky Top AGAIN!!"

Did you catch the comment from Candace in the post-game? "Everyone said that we couldn't hold them under 50, so we set that as our goal."
And they did it!! A Stanford team that averaged 90 points a game, held to 48 points! Hot damn!
I don't know -- this may be the greatest set of seniors to ever play at Tennessee. Every one of them came to play tonight. Solid, solid team. Wow.

Un-friggin'-believable! What a game! What a defense! What pressure! What balance! What a team!
I am completely blown away. What an amazing victory! That's right -- IT'S ROCKY TOP AGAIN!!

Lots of analysts calling this for Stanford. Lots of other analysts (on the men's side) saying that come championship time, defense isn't enough -- you've got to have a great offensive machine. Lots of things you can call this Lady Vol team, but an offensive juggernaut, it's not.
Here's hoping the Lady Vols prove everyone wrong -- defense wins games, and great defense wins championships. Or, to quote Stacey Dales from last year:
"Offense sells tickets;
Defense wins games;
STOPS wins championships."
Go Lady Vols!!

Play Louisville again, so I can win again no matter what! :--)

Candace Parker is one of the greatest players, greatest role models to ever play at any school. She richly deserves this award. Here's hoping she can put some net strands next to it!!

And by the way -- your confidence isn't shared by many others. Most are picking Stanford. Since I'm the one commenting about confidence, here's my prediction:
Halftime -- 42-35, Stanford
Final -- 72-66, Tennessee

Now THAT'S a fan!!
Confidence is good. Confidence backed up by results is even better. This team has produced the results since that loss to LSU -- SEC Tourney title (including beating LSU), #1 seed in the NCAA, another solid run to another Final Four. Finally, another win over a great LSU team -- while scoring below 50 points for the first time in over 900 games.
So, where will confidence get this team tomorrow night? Confidence alone isn't going to stop the Cardinal -- not Ice, or Appel, or the others. Confidence alone isn't going to make the ball go in for Hornbuckle, Bobbitt, and the other players. Confidence alone isn't going to heal Parker's shoulder(s).
BUT -- if confidence becomes determination -- determination for the entire game because down deep you know you CAN win this -- then THAT confidence can win this game.
Ladies, each of you has to have a Pat 2007 moment -- "We are NOT leaving here without a championship!!" Here's my wish for you -- DETERMINATION. Go Lady Vols!!

Congratulation to both Candace and Pat. I think they are both, simply, the best.
Here's a story line for you -- Pat coaches ten more years, passes Wooden for national championships, then retires and turns the coaching reins over to -- Candace, recently retired from the WNBA.
Ah, me, getting ahead of myself. Candace, you have been a true student-athlete and a great role model, as well as a great player. All of the seniors, in my opinion, could have shared this award -- this is the greatest class ever. Congrats to all!!
On Parker wins Wooden Award for second consecutive year
