Bama game could be a shoot out. We'll need some big plays offensively to keep the points rolling. May need to see #22 unleash a break away.

Alabama week. tide fans' mindless phrase, "Got 12?"
Yes, Bama we do, 12 of last 14 over you.
B-D expansion to 100,000? Don't put is past them to attempt to exceed Neyland. Hamilton should respond with an upper deck on North endzone.

Please, please say they spent more than 15 minutes on tackling. Are not 20 hours of practice a week allowed? Here's a suggestion Phil and Chief, practice tackling 20 hours or until its done properly in a game. You guys face GA, AL, SC, ARK, KY - Learn to tackle, now.

Speaking of safeties. Chavis needs a heart to heart with Hefney about tackling. "practically in tears after Cal". That makes two of us. Game 5 is very late to get tackling fixed. I'll bet Fulmer & Chavis have placed the Sr. pre-season SEC pick on a pedestal. Reminds me of the safety on my HS team. Pickard always got lauded by the coach even when he missed tackles or assignments. Did Neyland afford this red carpet to Atkins and Haslam? - doubt it. Everyone is accountable.
2 Things Vols have trouble admitting - 1) we had a player a decade ago who at times, like Hef, chose the big hit instead of wrapping up. Yes, Al Wilson missed some tackles, fortunately not a team problem. 2) first year receivers rarely make a HUGE Vol impact, the last one to do so was the Future, 64 catches in 2001. Bret Smith had 5 TDs on 10 catches his first year so thats BIG but not 64 catches. Joey Kent, I think, redshirted so his freshmen year 5 TDs was his second on campus. Around the same time was Marcus Nash. Pickens also redshirted. Good luck Vols, need some D guys.

auttat, I agree with nicksjuzunk, it counts as both. Commendations to the O for improvement and getting Coker unleashed. Foster does need a FB - maybe our mimmick of NFL to eliminate the FB helps recruiting. We ought to stick Hardesty in as FB like a Shawn Bryson, recall his 24 yd TD v. Tide right up the gut in 97.
So Kevin Cooper will wind up as backup TE. Oh for the days of Jamal, Cheese, Little Man, Cobb-Webb. How about William Howard? 6 ft 235 in 87 was good size. The year before he carried on 16 consecutive offensive plays v Ole Miss. OK, it was No Miss but third and short gives me head aches these days.
Anyone notice how Cut insists on bunching up the formation on end arounds to O'Neal. When Cut ran reverses in prior stint as O coord, the ball carrier split wide to build speed, same on reverses when Cut was QB coach. Food for thought David.

BigUn, I have also seen the year after year drop in enthusiasm. Why don't we have the same fire as UK, UA, LSU? We need to go to the next level - that is the level Majors had us at. Fulmer's last 8 years are short of Majors last 8 no matter who gets credit for victories over GA, FLA in 92. We forfeit on the field to highly ranked teams, can't win a bowl game, don't field a complete team (no O in 05, no D in 07, never any kick/punt coverage). Hope they win out - hope has replaced confidence.

The offense is performing well save the scores by opponents and rushing attempts on third and short. We don't need trick plays, we need a defense. Upcoming games v GA, AL, Ark, Ky, Vandy. We could easily have 3 more losses. Tackle, pressure the QB, pass coverage and on punt coverage stay in you lanes.

Boycott plan sounds good. I'll skip Ark St and GA. My GA tickets may even go to GA fans. Perish the thought? No. Someone wearing a orange jersey, a coaching visor, or sitting in the AD suite should understand, this crap won't cut it.
Our program displays no will to fight, no plan to improve, we have accepted mediocrity - check that, Hamilton, Haslam, Goodfriend, Fulmer have. I want no further part of it. Gen Neyland wouldn't baby these 18 to 21 year olds. Nor am I obligated.

My seats for SC will be vacant. I'll be there for Ark but only b/c I promised my son I would take him. He is too young to understand that the program has been in decline for years.
There's a couple of other home games this year. Ya'll have fun. After 3 decades and thousands of dollars, I'll find something else to do.
On Report card: UT vs. Alabama
