To add to James "Little Man" Stewart... he was also a 1st round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars (#19 overall in the 1995 draft). He spent 5 years there before he left in Free Agengy for a nice contract with Detroit.

The LOBO Back that Urlacher played lined up at the traditional spot like a free safety would in a 3-3-5 or 4-2-5. Urlacher was allowed to run free to the ball whether it was a run or a pass. He made first team All-American Safety of course. That is why he is so great as a Tampa 2 MLB... similar concepts.

FWBVol... you must not have been doing your homework on big time college safeties. Granted, Rod Wilks is big as a freshman at S, but if the kid can run... it doesn't matter. I played at ETSU in the mid/late 90's and was a big SS. Two of the best game changing Safeties in the 2000's were huge by UT's standards... The late Shawn Taylor (U of Miami and Redskins) and Roy Williams (OU and Cowboys). They were both over 230 in college and All-Americans as well as All-Pro in the NFL. Eric Berry is now 210lbs. Thomas Davis was 220 plus at UGA as well as both safeties that started opposite him (Sean Jones and Greg Blue). LaRon Landry was over 210 while at LSU as well. Let's not forget about my favorite college safety... Mr. Brian Urlacher of my beloved Chicago Bears. He was 240 and played FS at New Mexico!!!!

tngeoff,

DLY is definitely a great guy. He played point guard for our rec league basketball team. He's crazy quick!!!! He's definitely still "got" it! BTW, he has a lot of confidence in Crompton!

You are definitely right on that! Last year's DE would've been just right for the scheme I mentioned. 3-3 would work better than 3-4. 3-3 DE's play more like they would in a 4-3

Here's a thought... I was talking to former UT RB David Yancey at work yesterday. We were talking about a potential solution to UT's depth problem at DT. I suggested a change from the 4-3 to a 3-3-5 or 3-4 hybrid. It makes since because Myers-White and McKenzie will essentially be co-starters at SLB. McKenzie can play the hybrid safety position like he did in the mustang package. IMO, I feel that he is better than our 2nd or 3rd DT. Having played LB at Morristoen West and Strong Safety at ETSU, I know a lil somethin somethin about bein a hybrid player!
