BornNBred, I was at the '71 game which CPF mentions. I was seated with my roommates in the end zone where that 99-1/2 yard drive began with very little time on the clock. It was a long drive and the crowd was very tense. What a celebration there was after that game! It was every bit as exciting as the 2001 win in The Swamp. Thanks for the memory.

Well, I know everyone expects me to validate Bobcat and HD, and I do. I had to give up my football season tickets last year becaue I have more important things to do on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. There are priorities one sets for oneself, and Bobcat and HD have chosen the better way. With that said...GO VOLS CRUSH EVERYONE!

OK, but what's the standing of the remaining seven? Where are they?

"He isn't on the list for no reason." Egad, son, I hope you didn't get a degree from UT. I agree with the sentiment, but please leave the double negatives to the folks in Alabama hill country and the panhandle of Florida.

For all you Memphis fans:
This just MIGHT explain why Emmanuel chose UTK over Memphis...
Saint Peter was manning the Pearly Gates when forty people from Memphis
showed up.
Never having seen anyone from Memphis at heaven's door, Saint Peter said he
would have to check with God.
After hearing the news, God instructed him to admit the ten most virtuous
people from the group.
A few minutes later, Saint Peter returned to God breathless and said,
'They're gone!'
'What? All of the Memphians are gone?' asked God.
'No!' replied Saint Peter. 'The Pearly Gates!'

Memphistenn2117:
Has Tennessee ever made it past the sweet sixteen? NO; You're right, but the day is coming!
-Memphis has been to multiple sweet sixteens and beyond. Congratulations, but classy winners don't have to talk about their victories.
Does anyone think about basketball when they talk about Tennessee? NO; They are NOW, baby!
-Memphis is a top 10 basketball program; for the time being, but they are consistently a Top 10 team.
Does any african american want to go live with a bunch of inbred hicks? NO; But we know our children and how to name them
-Memphis may have crime, but we do not have fat slobs with beer bellies hanging out of our pants...Check your stats, son; Memphis is the MOST OBESE CITY IN AMERICA. The reason you don't have beerbellies is that the blubber hangs over the entire circumference of the belt.
Does Tennessee have any basketball tradition or any notable professional basketball players? NO (allen houston doesn't count) WHY doesn't he count? Ron Whidby, Bernard King are a couple more.
In the end, Memphis choking a national title away is wat better than never even sniffing the elite eight, much less the final four. Go play for your precious SEC title, cause reality is that there wasn't a great SEC basketball team last season. Want an example....go look at the tournament bracket last year.
Arkansas: got killed
Tennessee: lucky to have made it past Butler.
Vandy: haha, Siena beat them and it wasn't even close
MS St.: still can't make it past the second round
Kentucky: bye bye first round
Georgia: bye bye first round
Yes, and how many National Championships has the CUSA won in this decade? How many of its teams have made the Final Four?

I had to say Mass at St. Joseph's that morning at 10. Under my vestments was my gameday Orange. A parishioner loaned be a radar detector (yes, I broke the speeding alws that day!) to help me get to teh game in time. By the time I got to Jackson, MS, there was a string of 10-15 cars behind me. When I pulled off to gas-up everyone of them follwed me. We had a tail-gate of sorts while we pumped gas into our cars and fire into our bellies. On to the Big Easy. We got to our hotel in plenty of time and then on to the Superdome. What a night!!!!! I guess it will always be my favorite because we weren't given any chance at all, abd we stuck it to them. My cousin from Miami was across the Dome and left at halftime to beat the crows to Bourbon Street. She left because she knew it was over! I taped the game while away and it is still the first game of every season followed by the '98 win over the Gators. How sweet it is to be a Tennessee Volunteer!
