University of Tennessee junior college transfer Bobby Maze was officially cleared by the school’s admissions office on Friday.
“I think Bobby did a good job following the plan that was set for him by Hutchinson (Kan., Comunity College) and the University of Tennessee,’’ said Vols’ assistant basketball coach Steve Forbes, who served as Maze’s primary recruiter. “Bobby did everything asked of him and his hard work paid off. Williams cleared to play by SEC, says he loves UT

The good news just keeps on coming for Tennessee’s football team.
Some three and half years after signing with the Vols, linebacker Gerald Williams will finally get to suit up after the SEC granted his eligibility Friday.
Williams, a 2005 signee from Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., returned to practice Friday for the first time since Aug. 20 after receiving the word during a team meeting earlier in the day.
“The whole team stood up and gave him a standing ovation,” UT coach Phillip Fulmer said. “He’s been through a lot to get here. It’s been hard on him. I personally want to say how much I appreciate our conference office and our administration.” Full story »
