BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Papajohns.com Bowl could feature a Southeastern Conference team the next two seasons.
The NCAA approved recertification of the bowl Wednesday, and the Dec. 29 game now has a tie-in with the hometown SEC. The 2-year-old bowl had matched teams from Conference USA and the Big East.
Conference USA moves to a new bowl against the Big East in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The Papajohns.com Bowl has a two-year deal to receive the SEC's lowest bowl-eligible team. That gives the league nine automatic bowl berths — if the SEC has that many eligible teams. If not, the Birmingham game will have to find an at-large team.
South Carolina was bowl eligible last season but sat out the postseason when the SEC filled its eight slots.
The switch to the SEC will cost fans a few bucks, though: Ticket prices will go up from $30 to $40.

It appears Coach Foolmore will have some tough decisions to make in regards to the bowls now. Call it a "menu-ing" type of system like we had with the young receivers last year.

that spot is saved for alabama. Satan **cough cough** i mean Saban, has a new bowl to go to, when his team chokes again. Saban will leave Bama after a while to take a better offer

I swear, when we kick ass this year, everyone better drop this "foolmore" bs. Nothing you say is gonna get the guy fired. He won't be fired. He'll never be fired. He's put together what I believe will be a GREAT offensive coaching staff and currently has one of the most talented teams in his tenure at UT. We were all barking at him to change and he did. New blood.

orangeblood- you have been posting long enough to know that the biggest jerk in the world workinwhatever is going to come on here and bash Coach Fulmer. See the ass hole does not even know his name. no one will pay attention to him so he comes on here to bash. never seen one positive word from him. i honestly think he wishes we would lose every game. but you know what, if that should happen, he ain't gonna get fired. i am convinced that he has no friends. if he is around his friends like he is on here, i can imagine when people that know him (both of them) suddenly have something more important to do. like check the air in their tires or re-arrange their sock drawer.

How do you guys find a way to turn this story into Fulmer bashing? Give it a rest. Turn your attention to Adams so we can get more real stories about UT recruits in the off-season instead of this useless drivel.

Hey folks, what about the GOLDEN RULE....U know, treat others as you yourself would want to be treated......This continuous use of derogatory names toward a Tennessee coach is NOT in good taste, for either the poster or the person it is aimed at.We may not like the way games turn out or the choices and decisions a coach makes....but then again its just a game...so lets treat it and the participants that very way. GO VOLS

Vol fans are nuts.I remember being at Neyland in 2002 for the UT AL game.We got stomped 34-14.At the end of the game, as I was headed for the exit, I heard people yelling fight fight.I thought ,man some stupid bama fan started running his mouth.Nope.I turned around and 2 UT fans were knucking it up w/ each other while the Bama fans walking by were laughing it up.
smokey65, unfortunately most people on here only go by the Orange Rule which states: "anything goes".

These extra bowls don't affect us any at all seeing as we usually make a bowl game anyway. It is however good news for the Vandy's, Kentucky's, Alabama's and Mississippi schools of the world. Now they have something to fight it out for!

There are unconfirmed rumors that the SEC is being looked at for a 10th bowl tie-in as well. There are actually two bowls in the running. One is the 2000 Flushes Toilet Bowl to be held in Storrs, CT. The other is the Hanes Wife-Beater Tee Shirt Punch Bowl to be played in an empty field just north of the Twister Target Trailer Park in Greenbow, AL.
My personal perference would be to get in on the Bic Lighters Crack Bowl to be held in a converted burned-out project housing building in downtown Memphis, but, since there is already a bowl in Memphis, that sounds like a 'pipe' dream.

HotlantaVol ,I thought the Hanes Wife-Beater Tee Shirt Punch Bowl was the A-day game at Bama.
Man, I was just talking about sportsmanship.
Sorry couldn't help myself. There is nothing wrong w/ a little jab, but it doesn't have to get personal. There are more important things in life than sports you know, like....Ummmm,Uhhhh, well I'll think of something in a minute.

This is great. I am glad people have such a high opinion of me, particularly mjohnsonvols. At least I am good at being the biggest a-hole in the world, unlike Foolmore being the biggest mediocre (well maybe 2nd behind Ralph Friedgen at Maryland who by the way pantsed Fulmer in the Peach bowl) coach in the world. Thanks!!!

Why do you bring my name in on this. I have not posted anything on here today until now. WOW I guess you know who your daddy is now don't you.
Guys listen the best way to get rid of these punks is either be stupid with them or not respond at all. I choose to do a little of both. I like getting workin fired up a little. See I didn't have to post on this article and he has brought me into already. Just play the game with him he gets off on that and it makes him happy if that is possible.
Hey Workin have a good day and smile buddy Fulmer is still our Coach that means you get to be negative for at least until the end of the year.

Workin...
Whatever dude. Though you do have the cutest male tramp stamp I've ever seen.
Ashley...
I wish more people would simply get enthused about Tennessee football at the most base level as you do. Still think you are overboard with comparing Clausen to Peyton (being realistic)
Everyone...What befuddles me is seeing us Vol fans so rabidly at each other's throats when we have a football team that consistantly wins nearly 75% of it's games. I don't feel like doing any math, but even in this decade the number is certainly above 70%. Maybe ten teams (give or take) in NCAA I-A can boast that.
Fulmer's problem is consistancy. This is his downfall. Consistantly competitive, consistantly winners, but also consistantly giving up the big games. For most fans, this is what makes him great. This is why he hovers around that top national winning % every year. He's like the Space Shuttle vs. a Saturn rocket. The Space Shuttle is good for many, many years of service with (intended) consistant results. The Saturn was good for one use and that was it if history lessons serve my memory. We could go out and get a new coach every year and maybe have a successful mission, but how many dead ends would we have to suffer through?
Phil Fulmer has fielded a winning football program every year (save for ONE DAMN SEASON) since 1993. Two SEC champs, one National Champ, and (what is it 4?) SECCG appearances since that last win. Yes, a slight slip over the years, but still consistant almost to a fault. Not consistantly bad, not even consistantly mediocre. Consistantly good, competitive, but rarely GREAT. A great team is overdue us to be sure. Let's quit being ridiculous and get on board that this is the year.

Vol_in_LSU_land: Yes the Saturn V booster (as used in the Apollo missions) was intended to be a single use rocket, and indeed the pieces either burned up falling back to earth or stayed in a decaying orbit as space junk until eventually burning up while re-entering the atmosphere. The Apollo capsules were also only used one time each. However, there was some talk about making them reusable. These discussions eventually led to the design of the reusable space craft we know as the space shuttle.
Man, if only Wikipedia had a blog . . .

VolInLSULand-- you're right about Casey Clausen-- a good QB, but shouldn't be even remotely compared to Peyton.
I liked him okay as QB, but Casey Clausen was only the 2nd best QB named "Casey" in his draft class (behind Casey Bramlet from Wyoming, who was drafted, has made the active roster on more than one NFL team, and won MVP in the NFL Europe "World Bowl"). Casey had a lot better attitude than his brother Ricky, though.

orangeblood - "We were all barking at him to change and he did. New blood."
Ummmmm, Lets see here. First off Foolmore had to get new coaches because they left him.
2nd. He botched the process by not interviewing anyone and waiting to hire Kippy Brown. Then Kippy took a promotion and left Foolmore (as usual from someone who works so hard) with his pants around his ankles.
3rd. Foolmore finally interviews 1 candidate from Clemson, gives him a low ball offer and Foolmore is pantsed around his ankles yet 1 more time when that candidate doesn't come.
Finally, Foolmore digs up Coach Clowsen from the mighty richmond spiders.
Yeah, Foolmore is really someone who is pro-active and wanted this change right? Well, at least that's what he told the public.

It is so surprising..but true...Gator, GA., and other football fans do not travel like VOL fans...of course there are other fans of SEC teams that are not considered "traveling fans". Therefore it behooves VOL fans who seem to travel most to SEC games to ease off the traveling..its better to see the game on television and Fla., stadium will fill to capacity anyway...And its much cheaper. Besides, you don't have take any cheap shots..and you don't have tthe long ride back. Think about it.
