COLUMBIA, S.C. — Fighting and resisting arrest charges have been dropped for South Carolina offensive lineman Kevin Young, police said Friday.
Early on the morning of March 2, the 20-year-old redshirt freshman was ticketed by Columbia police for his role in a fight at a nightclub area near campus.
The department decided to drop the charges but would not elaborate, police spokesman Brick Lewis said Friday.
Days after the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder was charged, Columbia city manager Charles Austin asked the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate whether officers had used excessive force.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier had said that Young and other witnesses claimed police hit the player several times during the encounter.
Young’s attorney, Neal Lourie, said the player and his family were pleased to have this part of the incident behind them, calling the decision to drop the charges “a very strong statement that Kevin did not do anything wrong that night.”
Lourie said he hasn’t heard anything more about the SLED inquiry, which he said was still ongoing.

Oh, yeah... Just another example of out of control cops. They relish hitting and schocking people with little or no justification. They would never have dropped the charges unless there was misconduct that happened on their part.

Nah, word is that Mr. No Credibility Adams has an unnamed source linking this to Fulmer making a conference call to the Columbia police dept. and SOS. Fulmer is to blame for their misdeeds, so the players should go free, according to the unnamed source and Adams.

Saban & Spurrier are becoming synonomous in how they handle all of thier off-field issues and recruiting. Both are real losers when it comes to integrity.
