Former Lady Vol Edwards named coach at Alcorn State
LORMAN, Miss. — Alcorn State hired former Tennessee Lady Vol Tonya Edwards as its women’s basketball coach Monday.
Edwards spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Detroit-Mercy.
Alcorn State athletic director Darren J. Hamilton said during Edwards’ tenure at Detroit-Mercy she oversaw the budget, served as recruiter and coached the guards.
Edwards won national championships with the Lady Vols in 1987 and ’89 and scored 1,309 points in her career. She also played in the WNBA.

NcVol, the last number I heard is old off an "In My Own Words" show. Then it was 57, and I know of three more since then.

For many who weren't around then she was a "very big" recruit for the Lvols and from far away - Michigan. Great from the day she arrived, overcame the dreaded knee injury. And I'm pleased she has a chance to grow her career in the college ranks.
