Chris Lofton is deciding which of two teams he will play for in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas summer league next month, his agent said Friday.
The two-time All-SEC guard from Tennessee was not selected Thursday night in the NBA draft, which was not unexpected.
Lofton will pick a team to join in the Las Vegas league that begins July 11. Of the 30 NBA franchises, 21 compete in the Las Vegas league.
“There’s a couple of different teams that are very interested,’’ said Erik Fleischer, Lofton’s agent. “He’s going to try to narrow that down.
“Both teams are in Las Vegas and he’ll get great exposure.’’
One of the teams is believed to be the Charlotte Bobcats. Buzz Peterson, the Tennessee coach who signed Lofton, is Charlotte’s director of player personnel.
Five SEC players were taken in the two-round draft. Anthony Randolph of LSU and Marreese Speights of Florida went in the first round; Richard Hendrix of Alabama, Shan Foster of Vanderbilt and Joe Crawford of Kentucky were taken in the second round.

Very cool. Might want to consider Europe Chris. Many great opportunities are available in Europe, and the basketball competition is amazingly high.
Good luck Chris!

sorry chris but the creame always comes to the top/

Not to mention Europe would be a perfect fit for his style of play. I am sure he will be successful in whatever he does. His track record is pretty good.

Hey if friggin reddick can be on an NBA team so can Chris. Had he came out after his junior year he would have been drafted. He may never make it in the NBA, but that does not diminish what he did for UT and his character. He along with Dane, Jujuan and Tyler will be the main guys I remember turning UT basketball around. Hope I can be there when they hang his jersey in TBA.

I could see him fitting in, with the Bobcats. He might need some fine tuning, but with all the things he's had to deal with this past year, his best playing days are ahead of him. All the best, Chris.....

I'll have to go watch a game or two then if Chris is playing. I still think he'll prove himself and make a NBA team.
Good luck to you Chris. Thanks for everything you've given us to cheer for over the years!

Chris will just have to prove everybody wrong again and I have no doubt that he can play in the NBA , we will never see another C-Lo at Tennessee. Good luck to ya

You can't help but like this kid. He's one of the all time greats to ever play at UT. His names will hang from the banners someday.

He is a class act, all the way. Only wish him the best.

Is doss really saying that Chris will eventually rise to the top? Might be worth a clarification.
Thanks Chris! I'll never forget the monster 3 that you drained over Kevin Durant on at Christmas 06'. It looked like 1/2 court from behind the glass! My son will not either.
A very special 4 years no doubt.

Look at CJ Watson. Spent some time in Europe then to the D-League, and now is in the NBA. I could see a similar path for Chris. They would be 2 stellar reps for UT in the league

You know, Golden State would be an ideal fit for him in Don Nelson's system or the Nuggets!!
But, I think Chris should spend some time in Europe!! You know, light it up there, lol, and come back!!

Being a celtic fan dating back to the 80's, I am a little biased here but I really thought boston should've picked lofton with the last pick of the draft. I think their style of play, well, offensively, fits chris well. Coming off screens, shooting the 3, etc. May have been a defensive liability at first though...I do understand that. also, I thought jujuan would have been drafted based on his defensive skills alone. I hope both players make it in the nba someday but if not, they'll succeed wherever they end up. I do have one question for anyone reading this though....Joe Crawford to the lakers?? was that for real?! It took crawford 4 years to make SECOND team all-sec in a year when 48 players were named to the first team!! Oh well...Go Vols!! Thank you allan houston!

Players like Lofton is what it will take to make watching the NBA worthwhile again.
No you are not seeing double.

The man is a class act. He played while recovering from cancer treatment and didn't use it as an excuse for his slow start. He always held his head high and represented our university in a positive way. I wish him the very best of luck and truly hope he makes some NBA team's bench. For any NBA team out there looking for guys with true character to go along with skill, look no further than Chris Lofton. God bless you Chris and thank you for being a Tennessee Vol!

What's with the dissing of Bradshaw? He was an excellent player and good person, not all this or that, but its not only the stars that make a team.

the biggest difference from college to pro basketball is the speed and Lofton does not have that speed. he is also undersized for his position, he's got an uphill battle to fight here, but I think all the Vol fans know thats something he can do. He beat Cancer, kentucky, florida, the SEC, every 3 point shooter ever in the SEC.. there is a place for him in the NBA whether it be this year or down the road. Good luck Chris.

Volpride, what kind of lighting it up in Europe are you talkin about? I know the only kind i could be successful at might be detrimental to basketball and athletics in general lol

I thought I'd seen the epitomy of his ignorance but I was wrong! MARCY_GIRL!!! "Might want to consider Europe Chris. Many great opportunities are available in Europe, and the basketball competition is amazingly high." ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS????!!!! I bet he'd never thought of that! What an amazing thought from our resident moron!!!
As I posted a long time ago, as much as I love C-Lo, he won't be making his money in the NBA and this is really just more of the same nonsense on an old topic.

C-Lo is the best Vol to play the game....he struggled a little this year but I think we can understand...this guy will kill it in the NBA if given the chance. We love you C-Lo you are the man!

nafslov can't remember games like the Florida game Dame won at the buzzer. My Christian upbringing limits my comments about you to the same as many have pointed out before: you are a blatant racist.

Nafslov, you might want to ask Coach Pearl about that "wasted jersey" and what he meant to the team. I believe he endowed a $100,000 scholarship fund in his name. You got something like that going for you? No? didn't think so.

nafslov...last time I checked, basketball was a team sport, so I assume you've done your research on these "3" games that Bradshaw cost us??? Everyone else in those games were 100% from the floor? 100% from the line??? If a single player is responsible for losing or winning a game for a team...then if he only cost us 3 games in his career...I'll take that ANY DAY!! How many games would we have lost without him??? I remember two specifically, and those were agianst the Gators. So, take your high horse and ride off into the sunset and find something else to waste your time with...Good luck Chris Lofton, your a class act and your day to shine is still before you, your already a winner, on a much bigger stage than even the NBA. Your strength and courage is an inspiration to many.

fencevol. Yes I have played basketball. My take on why Lofton will not make it in the NBA is shared by many coaches and evaluators in the NBA.
Like I said, Lofton is a great kid and has been a wonderful ambassador for UT. I am sure that he is going to go really far in life....I just don't think it will be in the NBA.
Posted by Colliervol on June 28, 2008 at 10:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)
As much as I hate to admit it (and I hope he proves me wrong), I just don't believe Chris can make it in the NBA unless he gets in a situation like say John Paxson and Steve Kerr were in with the Chicago Bulls. Spot up shooters when the double teams came on Jordan. If he can get in a situation like that, maybe there's a shot. The only 6-1 shooting guard I can remember was Vinnie Johnson who was tougher than a pine knot. The NBA is just a different game versus college.

The NBA is not life itself...if Chris can't make it in the bigs, life goes on. It seems his parents gave him a good compass. He will be fine doing whatever.

TommyJack you are very correct. Sports is not the end all. Chris Lofton will continue to be successful because he does have the right stuff.
And I am so proud he is a VOL

c lofton is a friggin legend ,why because he was solid for 4 yrs not many can say that anymore. guys play one and done. this guy busted his chops for 4 and turned this program around. and if that bum from kentlucky ,joe crawford can play in the league than so can lofton . crawford cant hold loftons jock, so keep ya head up c lo and prove everyone wrong again , like you have your whole career, you will be succesful in what ever you do because of your drive and determination.chris lofton for ad in 2028

THE_VOL,
For someone who is supposed to be 35 years old, your juvenile posts of insults and name calling reflect your pre-teen mentality and lack of maturity.
I also seem to notice that you always choose to comment on my posts. If I didn't know better, I would think you had a man crush on me. Sorry, not interested.
