And yet one more award for Candace Parker and Tim Tebow.
The SEC announced Wednesday that Tennessee’s Parker and Florida’s Tebow are the Roy F. Kramer SEC Athletes of the Year for 2007-08.
Parker, who led the Lady Vols to a second consecutive NCAA basketball title, captured most of the national player of the year awards in her sport.
Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, college football’s top award.
Chris Lofton was UT’s nominee for the male athlete award.
Parker’s honor is the second in a row for Tennessee women. Softball star Monica Abbott claimed the award last year, along with Vanderbilt baseball pitcher David Price.
Other UT athletes to win the SEC’s top honor are Chamique Holdsclaw (1998 and 1999); Peyton Manning (1998); Todd Helton (1995); Daedra Charles (1991); Bridgette Gordon (1989); Larry Seivers (1977).

Not bad for the "2nd best" women's player in the SEC! You just have to love the pomp and circumstance of popularity awards.
Nevertheless, thanks Candace for being a phenominal ambassador of UT!

Yes, Sylvia Fowles claim to fame will be being the answer to one of those tricky sports questions in the "00s Decade" version of Trivial Pursuit.
"Who won the 2007-2008 SEC Player of the Year for Women's Basketball?"
"Candace Parker? She was playing back then, right? Was it Candace Parker?? It's gotta be Candace Parker!... Whoooo? It's not Candace Parker?! Wow! I would never have imagined it wasn't Candace Parker."

Now let's hope the SEC gives the poor girl a break and offers to FedEx this award to her!

Hey Foolmore, I wonder why Ainge didn't win the SEC male athlete of the year award?

With all this junk going on about the geno multimillion salary, jerks like WorkinLikeHeck talking out of his bloomers about football, Candace is just going about her business playing trememdous basketball, winning all kinds of awards. I wish we could have a rookie Candace-like coming in this fall. Hopefully one of our Lady Vols will step up and fill the void CP3 has left. I'm anxious for the season to start. WNBA TV coverage is a real joke. We can read a few paragraphs about it but we sure as heck can't watch it on TV.
