Kentucky QB Pulley arrested twice in last two months

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky quarterback Curtis Pulley has gotten into trouble with the law twice in the last two months, including an arrest for multiple traffic violations this week.

WLEX-TV in Lexington first reported Friday that Pulley was charged last month in Louisville on a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession. Then this week, Pulley was arrested in Hardin County on traffic charges including speeding, driving on a suspended or revoked license and having expired or no plates or registration papers, according to court documents.

Court records indicate Pulley was placed on diversion on the marijuana charge, which usually means the charge can be removed from the record if the defendant doesn’t violate the terms.

Kentucky spokesman Tony Neely said the university didn’t become aware of the charges until Friday and that coach Rich Brooks would decide at a later date what penalties Pulley will face but that it could include loss of playing time.

Pulley, a junior, is expected to compete for the starting job with sophomore Mike Hartline when preseason practice begins in August.

Fire Rich Brooks AND The Joker!!! Don't understand why these coaches can't keep these teams under control

W R O N G. We haven't heard as much as a peep from our players since the Adams column. O B V I O U S L Y somebody can control it! OUR TEAM AND COACHES DID. In my opinion...the fact that our nonsense stopped is probably the most newsworthy story in years...yet not a peep...not a cluck...not a moo...no...nothing. Congratulations team for defying the odds and making a difference!

well i meant thats nothing compared to what UT has done in the offseason. shouting and waving ones arms. Adams knows all about that

I would like to second tngeoff's congrats for the Vols' good behavior.

It won't last forever, but let's give credit when its due cause the hens will surely be clucking when the streak ends.

banman360.

I am usually a tremendous police ally...but I'm still scratching my head over the arm waving and yelling (jumping jacks) that resulted in such s huge deal. Anyway...all has been quiet...but no mention of it by media. In my opinion it's a huge story waiting to be written by somebody.

Someone tell this young man despite all his recent efforts, Bama has won the Fulmer Cup going away. He may cease and desist.

Too bad it only took half a dozen guys getting into trouble topped off by a 6th year senior getting his umteenth alcohol related charge and Fulmer having to write a letter defending himself to get it going.

Look, I am glad as anyone it stopped but it had been ridiculous before and was quickly heading in that direction again.

The only thing that gets as old as players getting into trouble is people referencing Adams' article in every damn one posted on here.

Proud of our team, proud of our coaches. Now let's bring that level of maturity and discipline to the field and get use a SEC or NAT championship. GO VOLS!

gosh...the problem with adams and most media is that they only report the negative things. lots of college athletes are doing good things in the community yet it isn't talked about until the a.d. dept puts together a piece. why is a vols website reporting that a ky player did something wrong. do some positive reporting!!!

I totally agree tngeoff. I was being sarcastic. I understand that coaches cant control everything and make every decision for their players. Your right it does seem as if Fulmer and Co. have gotten some things under control

all our Athletes are to be commended for the present run of arrest free months.

Thanks Players and Coaches!!

The UT player was yelling AND waving his arms AT THE SAME TIME. See? At the same time. That's more disturbing than, say, just yelling. Add the waving of the arms and this is WAY out of hand.

Hey KNS...why not designate a column at least once a week depicting the positive things that the athletes on the hill are doing. It would be a first and perhaps the paper could win a Pulitzer, or whatever for positive reporting instead of being nattering nabobs of negativity. Try it...you might like it! I am particularly referring to the volunteerism of the athletes to make a difference in their community, and not as serving as required as punishment for mis-deeds.

Waving arms and yelling = misdemeanor.

Waving, yelling, and stomping feet = felony.

Those stories can only be done when UT allows us to be invited.

Kaplan -

That story is over 3 months old. And one has to wonder why the university in your fair city doesn't invite you more often. I'd be reluctant too if I had been burned as often as they have by KNS articles. Please explain to me why that happens. Most cities want to support a high profile organization that brings in millions in revenue to it's business industry, such as hotels, restaurants, and retail. I'm not a KNS hater, but even I see the obvious bias in many of your printings. Yes, you should print articles on both negative and positive events, but why is there such a consistent negative slant in the perspective of the articles? What gives?

Losing to Alabama - a travesty....

I stomped and said things.

Painting a house does not draw the crowd as a fire burning it down.

see what happens when you get rid of the beer barrel. BRING IT BACK! or we might end up playing for "THE DOOBIE"

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems odd to me that the starting QB at Kentucky could be arrested a month ago and the coaches didn't find out about it until yesterday?

It seems like if a UT backup gets a parking ticket, it's on the front page of the KNS Sports before the guy makes it back to his room, but the starting QB at Kentucky is arrested for pot and the coaches don't learn about it until a month later after his second arrest?

Very good question IPO!! Lay it on the line KNS!

Cherokee - The Lexington Herald-Leader doesn't have an Adams that makes sure all news is bad news.

Posted by IPOrange on July 26, 2008 at 7:06 p.m. (Suggest removal)

gavol - thanks. Typical non-response from the staff, though. Anyway, it doesn't matter; there's nothing they can say to explain it. There's a difference between writing a negative, biased article and writing an article on a negative subject.

Cherokee - news travels slow thru parts of Kaintuck.

The Tennessean just stopped delivering to our entire county. No papers and little cell phone service, its almost perfect.

I guess I'll have to rely on good ol' Adams for sports news.
