COLUMBIA, S.C. — There will be a new name outside South Carolina’s basketball facility next fall.
University spokesman Russ McKinney says the board of trustees’ executive committee approved changing the Colonial Center to the Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday.
The name change was requested by the company, which is contracted to pay the university $5.5 million over 12 years for naming rights.
The arena opened in 2002 as the Carolina Center. It was changed to Colonial Center a year later.
The building plays host to all South Carolina men’s and women’s home basketball games. It also holds nonsporting events, such as the circus and concerts.

I thought they might name it the C---Pit. The censors won't let me use the "C" word (as they put it). I guess SC will have to change their name from Gamecocks.

Wow. Changing the name from the Colonial Center to the Colonial Life Arena. Such a momentous event should be praised and celebrated. *Yawns.

"It also holds nonsporting events, such as the circus and concerts." This line pretty much explains South Carolina basketball in a nutshell.

Ok the police are thru analyzing his life and all. I live in Cola the home of the gamecocks. This is a big article we all needed to know. Yes Media days start tomorrow so this was slow news day filler. GO VOLS!!!

I do not post much out of season so can someone tell me when KNS started this PC censoring of such common words as mentioned earlier? And what justification ? Hell, when I lived in SC that's what every fan called them.

Texan,
You won't know your offense until you try to "post" and get a comment such as "Watch your mouth". I guess I'll have to change my last name too.

This article is on here.....WHY?

I would say Neyland would change to Starbucks Coliseum but they don't do advertising so maybe Petros Chili and Chips Stadium. Heck, it still beats Duncan Donuts Arena (Providence, RI).
