Tennessee's women are headed to Athens, Ga., for the NCAA East Regional in golf. The championship field was announced Monday.
The 18th-ranked Lady Vols are seeded sixth of 21 teams in the 54-hole regional that begins May 8 at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Duke, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Wake Forest are the five teams ranked ahead of UT in this week's Golf Week/Sagarin rankings who will also be in Athens.
Duke is the three-time defending NCAA champion.
The top eight teams from each of the East, Central and West regionals advance to the championship finals May 20-23 in Albuquerqe, N.M.
Tennessee has three top-10 finishes, with a best of fifth place in 2000. The Lady Vols tied for 17th last year.
Men's Tennis: The Vols will learn their NCAA tournament fate when the bracket is set this afternoon.
UT is No. 8 in this week's ITA rankings.
Men's Golf: Tennessee was shut out of SEC honors announced Monday.
Jay Seawell of Alabama was named coach of the year and his top player, Michael Thompson, was named golfer of the year. No Vols were named to the top two All-SEC teams.
