Four Vols honored for improvements

Four Tennessee players impressed coaches enough to earn most improved honors during spring practice.

On defense, end Robert Ayers and cornerback DeAngelo Willingham shared the Andy Spiva Award as the most improved players.

On offense, wide receiver Ahmad Paige and tight end Luke Stocker earned the Harvey Robinson Award.

Tennessee holds its final practice this afternoon in advance of Saturday's Orange and White Game.

Fan Day Plans: In the event of inclement weather Saturday, Tennessee's Fan Day will not take place as scheduled.

Fan Day, which makes players and coaches available for autographs and photos, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Haslam Field.

In the event of rain, the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center is unavailable because of recruits who will be visiting campus. Per NCAA rules, fans and boosters are prohibited from meeting.

What's to keep fans and boosters from meeting recruits on Haslam Field as opposed to the Neyland-Thomspon Sports Center. It seems as if UT can keep these young men off Haslam for a one hour and fifteen minutes they should be able to keep them out of the complex for the same amount of time.

FWBVol, you just need to leave the details to the UTAD, I'm sure they have a handle on it.

Congratulations, guys. Those are definitely some positions where improvement is welcome.

"...fans and boosters are prohibited from meeting?"
Sounds very difficult to enforce. You might have a sentence truncation on your ha

"Per NCAA rules, fans and boosters are prohibited from meeting." Do you think someone should remind Bama of this little tidbit?

Nice awards for the players who have worked to get better.

eVOLution, Last time I checked, John Chavis was the DC at UT.

The same people who want to blame Fulmer for not knowing that Hardesty hadn't played want to blame him like you did as if he micromanages the rotation.

If Chavis had wanted to start Ayers, Ayers would have started. Put blame where it belongs... assuming you KNOW something the coaches didn't and Ayers actually deserved to start.

Got to agree with eVOLution on this one sjt18. Ayers was so much better than the other DE's it was clear that the coaches either missed it badly or they were punishing Ayers for something. Watch how much better we will be with Ayers starting at DE this year. Bet he is a solid pick in the NFL as well.

The sources I've found reliable say that Ayers was inconsistent. I doubt there's any way that CPF decides that over Chavis' objections.

He was basically the DE version of Bolden... but they didn't have anyone better to start in front of Bolden. These same sources, like your sources, have said that he and Bolden are changed men.

One guy specifically mentioned that Bolden isn't taking plays off any more.

We'll see I suppose.
